Presentation:
ZINC DEZIGN collection by James Heeley, resulted from a creative person, James Heeley meeting a young business woman with a can-do attitude: Katia Descamps in charge of the Interior Design department at ATELIERS D’ART FRANCAIS.

James Heeley, young British designer, is known particularly for his first designs: a range of zinc vases distributed in the US under the name of James Scott.

ATELIERS D’ART FRANCAIS direct descendants of the ornamental metal workers in France from the 19th Century have been making ornaments in zinc, copper and lead for over 150 years. Katia Descamps convinced her venerable employer to open an interior design department, to manufacture interior decorative elements using a craft meant originally to embellish building façades.

The ZINC DEZIGN collection was born from those two personalities teaming to take up the challenge to combine the modernity of sleek lines, with the tradition of a respected craft.

Philosophy:
Ornamental metalworking is an art. The know-how is passed directly from the skilled ornamental metal worker to the apprentice. True to the tradition of the arts, an age-old tradition is thus passed on from generation to generation.
